Chad Reed has served as the Vice President of Administration and Finance at Old Dominion University since March 10, 2022.
Reed is responsible for the University’s departments and offices of: Finance, University Budget, Information Technology Services, Auxiliary Business Services, Military Activities, Procurement Services, Facilities Management and Construction, Public Safety, Real Estate Foundation and Space Management.
Reed also serves as the University’s chief financial officer in coordinating the development of the University’s annual operating budget, in excess of $574 million, and its biennial operating and capital budget submissions to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Prior to joining ODU, Reed faithfully and successfully served Radford University in a number of leadership capacities, most recently as the vice president for Finance and Administration from July 2018 through March 2022. During his decade long tenure at Radford University, Reed also served in several other capacities, including associate vice president for Budget and Financial Planning. Prior to his service at Radford University, Reed served as an analyst in multiple positions in the Office of Budget and Financial Planning at Virginia Tech. Previously, he served in a variety of management and analyst positions in private industry, including Norfolk Southern Corporation.
Reed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in General Business from East Tennessee State University and a Master in Public Administration from Virginia Tech. He has completed numerous professional training and development programs through the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). Additionally, he is a graduate of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers’ (SACUBO) College Business Management Institute (CBMI).
