The Old Dominion University Research Foundation is a non-profit organization and employees are eligible to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
What is PSLF?
- Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a program for people who work in public service in federal, state, tribal, or local government, or for a non-profit organization. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after they have made 120 qualifying payments.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Individuals employed by a U.S. Federal, State, local, or tribal government of qualifying not-for-profit organization (Federal service includes U.S. military service);
- Full-time employment, working for a qualifying employer for a weekly average, alone or when combined, must equal at least 30 hours;
- Have Direct Loans (or consolidate other federal student loans into a Direct Loan);
- Repay your loans under an income-driven repayment plan or a 10-year Standard Repayment Plan; and
- Make a total of 120 qualifying monthly payments that need not be consecutive.
What is the deadline to apply?
- To help you track your progress toward qualifying for PSLF, we recommend applicants to submit the PSLF form annually or when you change employers.
How to Submit the PSLF Form
1) Digital Signatures With the PSLF Help Tool
You may use the PSLF Help Tool To:
- Complete your PSLF form
- Send your form to HR Service Center at rfhr@odu.edu for the employer’s digital signature (certifying your employment)
- Electronically submit your form to the PSLF servicer for processing

2) Manual PSLF Form
If you prefer not to use the PSLF Help Tool, you can download and print a blank PDF of the form, complete all sections, sign it, and have your employer(s) sign it.
When submitting this form to the ODU Research Foundation:
- Please complete and sign page one of the PSLF form, omitting your social
- Email your signed page one form to ODU Research Foundation HR at rfhr@odu.edu
- Once your form has been completed, the ODU Research Foundation HR will respond via email with your signed page 2.
- From there you will submit the form to MOHELA, the U.S. Department of Education’s federal loan servicer for the PSLF Program.
